After the dispute about falsified results at the presidential election in Kenya in December 2007, there were massive ethnically motivated riots across the whole country and also in the capital Nairobi (TULISA reported). More than 1,000 people have been killed, more than 300,000 took refuge. 250,000 of those – partly still today – often lived in lousy conditions in refugee-camps or with family members.

A medical center run by the Lutheran Church of Kenya the infamous Kibera slum in Nairobi was burned down and completely destroyed. The people living there are suffering from extreme poverty and a medical center is essential. TULISA decided to re-establish the medical center together with the local Lutheran church and its contacts to the US and Canada.
